Yes, as @wilgo said, it is possible… and the skills may be not fully up to par with some drivers. You could also be sure to check the height of your wheelchair/yourself as, for example, I need to remove my headrest to fit in the door and I need to face sideways which means only one other passenger can ride with me.

You are very correct in your statements about the accessible taxi companies being small and independent. Which means they also usually don’t have English websites to find them either. Two notable exceptions are @oshidori and @wilgo who are on this site.
