When we were there, my husband was still able to walk a short way with a cane. He remembers a few steps here and there near the entrance. Great article! I will say that in our experience, the Japanese people were very kind and helpful to my husband (he was in an electric wheelchair). We felt them quietly watching, and they sprang into action if they perceived we had a need. One person even offered to carry him on his back!
