Just to clarify, most hotels do have simple shower chairs available. Just nothing with wheels or that you could use for toileting.

From my understanding, most rental places won’t rent them for hygienic reasons and you may need to buy… or take one with you.

While it may be possible to hire some care workers for basic help, care requiring medical level assistance (like getting phlegm from the person’s airways) legally requires a special certification in Japan. So I would suggest they come with their own care worker or family member.
