It’s a good intro for AMTRAK. AMTRAK is not regularly used by the general public here, so even fewer know about its accessibility. It’s ‘hit and miss’ on where it is used regularly. The US is trying to get more younger people to use it beyond as a commuter or East Coast train.

Agree with Carlos that AMTRAK is a bit hit and miss.
I am a part time manual wheelchair user so I can get around the train ok and the in room toilet works well enough. I had no trouble getting luggage assistance and getting some assistance getting onto the train (steps easier for me to climb), but I suspect that has a lot to do with… Read more- View 1 reply

a year agoFlying with a Disability a year agoThis is horrifying – not only the risk of it happening, the risk of it happening and not being told. I had a similar incident where my back cushion was slashed and was told “it was already like that”.

If that happened to me, the cops would have to be called…on me. Those who’d broken my chair would find out that my muscles aren’t weak. Breaking my chair would be like if my legs were broken by someone else.

Not wishing to be insensitive to what I know if a physically demanding job of handling luggage, strollers and wheelchairs, it is very disappointing to see this kind of attitude. A wheelchair is a disabled person’s lifeline!
