Has anyone been to Buenos Aires? If so, how was accessibility there? Planning on visiting soon and would love some insider knowledge.
tabifolk12 CommentsI did! It was so far so good, I didn’t have any problems with my wheelchair
Good to know. So, a good destination for a belated honeymoon for me and my wife? I am a manual chair user and was just curious as to how others got on there 🙂
Yes, absolutely! My advice is to book an hotel better located , mine was in front of BA monument… I visited most most spots by walking (and rolling lol) and didn’t have any problem taking Uber a few times. I didn’t hire any agency
Awesome, and thanks for the great tip! It is so much easier being centrally located, isn’t it? Too often I have stayed in hotels on the outskirts of city’s and just making it into the heart of town takes up so much of your time!
I know Roby from a local accessible travel agency in Argentina, he knows the country inside out and they organise a bunch of cool activities. Up to you see if you want to get a local guide/agency to get to know the places the first days, and then explore on your own. Just mentioning that using a local guide or agency also supports the local economy, which is really important I would say, especially for Argentina at the moment🌞 https://www.solesviajes.com.ar/ – his email is roby@solesviajes.com.ar
Thank you so much for the contact details. I am 100% going to reach out to Roby this week!
He is super nice. And I want to see the photos afterwards, Argentina is soooo on my bucket list 🙂
You got it! I will remember to send you all of the pics that I take – which you may regret, because there will probably be thousands 🤣
I am glad to hear these positive comments here. I am from Argentina originally, but the last time I visited there was long before I was using a wheelchair. Definitely reach out to the contacts here if you’d like to organize some activities. As far as getting around the city I am not much help since I wasn’t using a chair then, but I do remember many parts being pedestrian only downtown so it’s easy to have enough space for a wheelchair without having to negotiate the sidewalk. Have fun!
Thanks so much for your comment. I guess I wil be happy to report back to you once I have been myself and let you know how things are these days for a wheelchair user. Maybe it will inspure you to return home for a visit 😀
I haven’t yet, but Cory Lee has! https://curbfreewithcorylee.com/2020/06/27/wheelchair-accessible-buenos-aires-argentina/
Thanks, Kamil. Checking this out now!
