MemberWith recent developments like the FAA’s roadmap for wheelchair seating on airplanes and significant fines imposed on airlines for mistreating disabled passengers, do you feel that accessible travel is finally being taken more seriously? How quickly do you think the tourism industry will implement meaningful changes in accessibility?
alliejay3 CommentsI believe it will be a VERY long time until us wheelchair travellers will be able to travel just like any other person, i.e.. just book a ticket and turn up☹️

I don’t have any issues having to make arrangements ahead of time for my wheelchair. The thing that still puzzles me is how often I provide the information ahead of time and fill have to do it again when I get to the airport. I find few airlines have streamlined the flow of this information. Have others had similar experiences?

I had the fortune of traveling on Emirates many years ago and can attest to their superb service. I am glad they are expanding into enhancing the experience for disabled travelers too.

1How long did it take to get your chair repaired or replaced, Josh? I’m reading that they have designed seats or rows of seats to be removed so that wheelchair users can remain in their chairs for the duration of the flight – do we have any idea as to when those chair accommodations will be readily available on US flights routinely?

See, there was a time when I might have found all of that a bit cringe, but believe it or not, as I get older, I’m discovering my inner nerd, and I’m all for that escapism! I think I’d enjoy dressing up as a pirate
How about a tabifolk group cruise one year where we can have a costume competition? Hahaha!
