You say the charger lit up. Is it a two-prong plug?
Also, I had a similar issue at home once, the wire from my chair to the charger was loose, but not the chair side, the side that goes into the charger itself. We just had to unplug and replug it. If yours is like that then Check that too if you haven’t.

It looks like the 3rd week of April may have rooms slightly above and around your price at the “Wat Hotel & Spa Hida Takayama,” but I don’t know if that includes the Universal room (probably have to call them). Some of the other inexpensive hotels near the city center seem much less accommodating, further away could be an issue too.
