  • Coming to Tokyo for New Year’s Eve

What hotel should I stay in for the best views of Tokyo’s celebration of the new year? I would like my own bathroom with a bathtub. I am ok with them just putting a bench in a normal bathtub but I need to make sure that the door to the bathroom is 69cm or wider bc I cannot shrink my wheelchair. I understand a lot of handicapped bathrooms have…

      • Hello

I assume you mean the next new years and I’m not to late!

We have hotels listed on Accessible Japan but just a drop in the bucket… but it can be a good place to start. I may suggest getting a travel agent to help with booking hotels.

As for Disney, in general, the rule is that you must be able to evacuate by yourself in an emergency…

        • Hey Josh! Happy New year buddy!
My wife and I like to go to the south every year to visit our close friends (all surfers) in southmost of Kushima! In itself a great escape from Tokyo on so many levels… (from surfing to wild horses and monkeys), we often road trip around for a few days. This year we stayed in Nichinan, Miyazaki and gee..…

          • Wheelchair or scooter?

When I travel abroad, I usually hire a scooter for outdoors and an electric wheelchair for indoors.

We are coming to Japan in September and will be staying in five different locations. This means moving a scooter and a wheelchair will probably be too hard.

So, I have rented a Whill model F.

Anybody know if this is suitable…

            • It is designed for both indoor and outdoors and you see them frequently. No problems in restaurants (more than any other wheelchair anyway).

You may be able to rent an extra batter as well. Then less to worry about when going long distances.

                Hello.

I run a taxi company in Osaka for people with disabilities. I also use Whill. I think the F model is a great, compact, and good model, but compared to the C2 model, it is significantly less capable of overcoming bumps and running on gravel roads. Kyoto’s shrines and temples have many gravel roads, so you may have some difficulty…

            • Repair wheelchair

Hej Hello, we arrived in Japan for 10+ days ago and my father’s wheelchair couldn’t handle all the bumps from the road so I wonder where we can repair the front (previously I wrote rear, but I meant the tiny front wheels) wheels or buy some new parts?

The wheels are pretty much bent and can barely take my father’s weight and the height of…

              • Hi! I’m not sure whether we can repair your father’s wheelchair directly, but I can introduce places in Osaka where you may be able to rent a wheelchair or buy replacement parts / a new wheelchair.

                • Hi

What type of wheelchair? Likely @tak is your best option for getting connected in Osaka. There is also https://www.ngt-k.com/en/ in Osaka.

If it is just tightening some screws/bolts, or even patching a tire, often bicycle shops are kind enough to do little things.
