I don’t usually bottom out, but because it is so heavy it is even hard to pop a wheelie. I often tell people that a single step can be the same to me as a wall.

Sometimes, if I know it will be useful, I’ll take a small portable ramp. But even though it is portable, it isn’t always practical to carry it all the time…

Regarding the post towns, I went from Nakatsugawa to Magome by bus (it was wheelchair accessible). Magome is all uphill, but if you’ve got power assist or someone pushing, it’s doable and a very pleasant place.

Then from Magome to Tsumago, the bus was not wheelchair accessible. It was a smaller bus, but the driver helped me get the wheelchair…

Yes, going to the port area is a bit of a hassle with different transport changes. You’re staying at a great place with good transport options (the brown line may get you directly to Shinsekai and the red line mostly everywhere!).
