Flying With an Assistance Animal is extremely difficult compared to other countries as the level of discrimination that occurs in Australia is at levels unseen by other western nations , Sadly this is due to lack of education
The other domestic carrier Virgin Australia was taken to to federal court and lost a discrimination case which I think made them more compliant with Australian Discrimination Laws, Qantas is yet to experience that . One thing about Discrimination laws in Australia is that the ‘victim’ is required to take legal action in the federal court, the second highest in the Country, which attracts great expense and risk to the Victim. It is a terrible system that I suspect many in Australia are not even aware how unbalanced it is . Qantas is large company and gambles no one in the disability community would risk financial ruin to simply achieve a basic human right, freedom of movement
