When you have a story to share, you can go to My Blog and click the Add New Post button
…or click the Write a Blog Post found on any blog page.
You will be taken to a blank page, all for you to fill!
Every post requires a title. This is what will be shown on the main blog page, as well as any time your post is shared on social media. Try to come up with a title that stands out but is descriptive.
Underneath the title, you can start sharing your story. You can type as if you were in Word with text wrapping automatically at the end of the line and new paragraphs can be added by pressing the Enter key. Blog entries must be at least 100 words to be published. You can see the word count next to the Publish button.
To format your text (bold, italics, headings, lists, etc) highlight the text you want to change and a menu with formatting items will appear above the text. In the same way, you can add a link to your text by highlighting the text and clicking the link button (looks like a chain).
If you would like to add an image or video to your post, create a paragraph and click the ̟⊕ next to the new paragraph. You can choose to add an image or video.
Choosing to add a picture will give you the option to upload an image from your computer. You can click the image after it is uploaded to choose the position (full width, to the left of text, right of text or grid). If you uploaded multiple images, they will be loaded in order. You can create an image gallery by clicking one of the images and clicking the grid button. To delete an image, click it and choose the x in the image’s corner.
To add a video, create a paragraph and click the ̟⊕ next to the new paragraph choose the video icon and then paste the link to a Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram video and press enter. (Note: you must use the ⊕ if you want to embed the video, pasting the link without using ⊕ will just add a link to the video.)
Before you finish your post, we recommend that you set a featured image. This will be the first image that appears in your post, and will also be used on the blog list and when the post is shared on social media. Having a featured image will help your post stick out. Click Set Featured Image at the top of the page and select an image from your computer. You can remove the featured image by clicking the x in the corner.
If you are not ready to publish your post yet, you can click Save and your post will be saved in your blog drafts. The post is also saved automatically every few minutes.
Do get an idea of how your post will look, click Preview and a new tab will open with your post. To go back to editing, simply close the tab.
When you are done, click Publish and share your post with the world!
