    Hi everyone!

Here I come again, this time with an article on the Atacama Desert in the north of Chile. As there isn’t much accessibility related information online, I thought that I would share with you the article that I wrote about it.

Again, I traveled with a friend, both of us wheelchair users, in January 2025 (actually, it was on the same trip that we visited the Patagonia in the south) and, despite lots of accessibility issues, the experience was fantastic.

Here’s the link to the article this time on The World is Accessible website:

North of Chile: The Atacama Desert on Wheels

And then, here’s a list of the activities that we did and the places that we toured, so that if you’re interested in any of these, you may check it and find more information (or just have a good read on accessible tourism).

    • San Pedro de Atacama
    • Altiplanic Lagoons & Red Rocks tour (Laguna Miscanti, Salar del Carmen, Toconao, etc.).
    • Astronomy: Stargazing tour.
    • Salar de Atacama: Laguna Chaxa with flamingoes.
    • Valley of Mars tour.
    • Santiago de Chile (short accessibility review at the end of the article).

Anyway, if you are considering or you plan on going and have any questions that are not discussed in the article, let me know below. I may not know the answers, but I might be able to give some pointers.

    Happy travels : )

    Joan
