I am freezing in my power chair. I was wondering if anyone has found a cordless electric throw that actually does more than heat one or two spots in the blanket for use on my lower body. My top stays warm but no matter how many layers on the bottom, including ski pants, I can’t stay warm enough. I’m always under heated blankets at home. The couple of blankets I’ve ordered I’ve sent back. Thank you.

Hi Karen, I know that problem and I’m very sensitive to cold too. I got a heat blanket for lorry drivers. They run on 24v just like power wheelchairs. I just had to build an adapter because the blanket had a connector to the cigarette lighter and the wheelchair has the usual round 3-pinned socket for charging (which is called XLR). What most people don’t know is that the connector cannot only be used for charging but there is also the voltage from the batteries. So actually any device that runs on 24v can be powered using that port…

I was hoping not to use the wheelchair battery for charging. My current chair has a usb port but it would drain my battery. The new chair is much more robust if insurance approves but I still am concerned about depleting the batteries.

Whilst it’s not heated, Vilber’s are set to release the “Combi” Wheelchair Sack which apparently keeps you cozy even at -20 Celsius. Might be worth exploring!

Thank you. I didn’t want something I have to climb in and out of.

Not sure if these are only in Japan, but you can charge them before you leave the house
