Yokohama Cruise
Yokohama Cruise
Posted by dmc62 on March 24, 2025 at 1:58 pmI need to find an 4 star accessible hotel in Yokohama before and after a cruise
in March 2026 . From my research most hotels I have seen on the web
pages that say they are accessible have baths in them but I need a roll
in shower so I can use the shower on my commode chair that has wheels
that we travel with. Any suggestions please ?KandL replied 1 week, 4 days ago 5 Members · 10 Replies- 10 Replies
Toyoko Inn chain has heartfelt rooms with roll in showers.
Thanks but I am looking for a 4 star or equiv if possible
I am also looking for a 4 star plus hotel in Tokyo with a roll in shower but I am travelling in October 2026, glad I have given myself plenty of time to plan and book
I found this hotel in Ginza,Tokyo on Booking.com and was able to make a booking 12 months in advance – The Royal Park Hotel
Ginza 6-ChomeIt is 230m from Higashi-ginza Station which has a single train operating from Haneda airport.
There are no bath tubs in the 21m2 Standard double rooms and I have attached a pic of the shower.

Thanks for your help, really appreciated
We stayed at Hilton Tokyo in Shinjuku and it was a very nice room with roll in shower. Hotel overall was very nice and in a nice location.
@DMC62 Hi David-san,
A cruise from Yokohama sounds wonderful!
As you found out, most accessible rooms in Japanese hotels have bathtubs, because as you know, Japanese people love taking baths!
So, here are some 4 star or higher hotels in Yokohama that have bathtubs but also have spacious shower areas that are accessible for wheelchairs and shower chairs;
2 beds room
The Kahala Hotel & Resort https://thekahala.jp/en/yokohama/
1 bed room
InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 https://www.icyokohama-pier8.com/en/
Mitsui Garden Hotel Yokohama Minatomirai Premier https://www.gardenhotels.co.jp/yokohama-minatomirai-premier/eng/
There are often no photos or room plans on the web, but if you make an enquiry, they will tell you the details.
There are also quite a few accessible rooms at Japanese hotels that only accept reservations by “telephone”, so if you are having difficulties with reservations, we can make arrangements for you, so please send us a direct message on tabifolk.
Have a great stay!
Thanks- I will check these out
We just stayed at the Intercontinental Pier 8 in Yokohama—it was fantastic. Great location, wonderful staff, and wheelchair accessible room was very nice and spacious with ease of access in movement including to/out of restroom. The single downside was the shower chair was quite low to the ground and smaller than we would typically see or what we use at home but my spouse was able to make it work. There was both a bath and a shower available. Would highly recommend for cruisers, we saw our ship from our room the morning of embarkation and the ship appeared deceptively closer than it was but was a nice approximate 25 minute walk from the hotel, short enough that I was able to walk with my spouse (in a manual wheelchair) to the port and have her wait there while I walked back to get our luggage; certainly could have done transport but it was nice to be out amongst other travelers and what I presume were citizens. The walk between the cruise terminal and hotel was generally flat and had good surface, just be sure to follow the wheelchair accessible route (we use Google maps which allows for that designation.) When you are approaching the street entrance to the terminal there are signs posted for the wheelchair route which brings you to a lift (or were when we travelled.) We rented a Sakura mobile WiFi for the cruise trip as well and it worked well in the areas around Tokyo and Yokohama and we are hoping it will work as well in our other ports of call. Safe and wonderful travels to you!
