    Hello!

    Hi there! I am Silvia.

I take my family to Japan every year. We have been to Aomori, Hokkaido, Kitakyushu, Kochi, etc. I’m so grateful to have discovered this forum recently. It takes a lot of effort to find accessible information every time.

My father is a wheelchair user, but can walk slowly.

I plan to travel to Kamikochi by car from Komatsu at the end of August. I saw information on the website https://japan-accessible.com that I could get the entering permission in Matsumoto police station. But since I am going from Toyama and Takayama, I will not pass by Matsumoto Police Station. Can I apply for an entering permission at Takayama Police Station?

And another problem is that we will drive to kamikochi by 2 cars. Can we get the entering permission together, or only for the car my father in?

    Thank you all!

    @ihsan6226 Hi Silvia-san,

Kamikochi is very nice! It’s my favourite place too.

I didn’t know either, so I called the road management office to ask about it. They said that only the Matsumoto police station accepts applications, even if one is coming from the Takayama.

Also, they said that it depends on the situation whether you can get a permission for two cars or not, so you need to ask the Matsumoto police station.

If you need any help, feel free to ask us!

    Wishing you a great trip!

oh! you were so thoughtful to call to ask it for me. Thank you so much. It is very helpful. Maybe I should prepare all documents and ask someone to call to ask if my situation can be allowed 2cars permission.

And my plan B is that the car with permission will drive directly to Kamikochi with my father and several elders. Another car will drive to the Hirayu parking lot and then take a taxi to Kamikochi.

@ihsan6226 Oh! You have a friend in Japan you can ask to call. That is reassuring!

You may already know this, but this article is very easy to understand (in Japanese language).

Alternatively, chartering one big car might be a good option.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Yes, I have read the article before. And I have downloaded the application as suggested in the article. My friend

I planned to drive into Kamikochi, take my dad for a walk around the visitor center, and then check into Taishoike Hotel. I hope my parents can enjoy the natural scenery of Kamikochi easily.

Since there were 13 of us on this family trip, I had to rent 2 cars. And I did think about getting a bus driver’s license to carry everyone, but most buses are not very convenient for people with disabilities.😅

Thank you for your help. It’s kind of you. After the trip, I will report the actual situation to this discussion, hoping to provide reference for friends in need.
