Purchasing wheelchair seat Narita Limited express (JR East)

  • Purchasing wheelchair seat Narita Limited express (JR East)

    Hi everyone,

    I am looking for the option to purchase in advance 2 wheelchairs seats for Narita express from Narita terminal 1 to Tokyo station or Shinagawa.

    As I explained in another discussion, I will buy shinkansen through Smart Ex thanks to your guidance and tips. However I haven’t found the option for this limited express (Narita express).

    Doing a deep research, I saw that a JR EAST forum was posted here in the forum but it’s only for shinkansen, not for limited express.

    Additionally I read that JR EAST is improving the wheelchair service:

    https://essential-japan.com/news/jr-east-to-expand-wheelchair-assistance-services-in-2025/

    Unfortunately, we did not find how contact or purchase it.

    Do you know how we can book in advance to wheelchair tickets for Narita Express in order to be ready the day we arrive? The reason is to take a shinkansen after Tokyo-Kyoto without wasting time.

    Thanks so much,

    Best regards

    Marc

    @msp Hi Marc-san,

    You can reserve a seat on the Narita Express from this site:

    https://www.eki-net.com/en/jreast-train-reservation/Top/Index

    And, there are also discount passes.

    https://www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/pass/nex.html

    We wish you a great trip!

      Thank Wheelchair travel Japan,

      indeed I had already check this website. However, I don’t see the option for wheelchair seat (like smartEx). I just can choose reserved seat but no specific for wheelchair. I went until the end of the process and I can purchase tickets but not able to choose wheelchair seat.

      What I am doing wrong?

      thanks

      @msp Hi Marc-san,

      On that website, can you select the following seats on the Narita Express seat map?

      – Car 5, Seat 14-A or D

      – Car 11, Seat 14-A or D

      If you find a row with one seat less, that’s a wheelchair seat!

      As Maury-san says, there are still some trains where you can’t reserve wheelchair seats online, so if you have any problems with reservations, please feel free to request us. We can arrange the tickets and deliver them to your hotel.

      Maury-san,

      Thank you so much for your warm comments!

      If our tips will help more travellers enjoy travelling in Japan, that will be our greatest pleasure!

    You aren’t doing anything wrong. Wheelchair seats are not always available for online booking. Try wheelchair-travel.jp, they can book wheelchair seats that are not available online.
