    Hello everyone!

I’m hoping to make this year great by staying in Japan and looking for work in person. To do so I’ll need a place to stay for at least the 90-days my passport will allow me to be there (then I’ll figure out the rest once I get a work visa or maybe even a school visa 🙂). I hope some people can provide information on finding such a place, or know a legitimate company that can help, any information is welcome.

Here are some details of what I’m hoping to find:

    • House or apartment type place with a kitchen area.
    • Wheelchair accessible (at least to a bedroom and a bathroom).
    • Location: Tokyo or surrounding areas (doesn’t need to be inside the city specifically), would also consider Kyoto or Osaka areas (or nearby them). This is a bit flexible, so long as I can get to/from there in my motorized wheelchair.
    • A 90-day stay.
    • Two bedrooms would be ideal (for my caregiver and one for me), but this is flexible.
    • Western-style bed (or room for one).
    • Air-conditioning (at least in bedrooms).
    • Near a train station is a major plus.
    • The earliest I’m looking to go is June of this year.
    • Ideally it shouldn’t be as expensive as a hotel.

Thank you in advance for any information. 😀

This sounds like a fun project!

I stayed in an Oakwood “residence” once and they had a shower chair at the place I was (Yokohama), so the others possibly do as well. It might be a good start – though, they are likely not budget friendly for 3 months….

In addition to Airbnb, there is a homegrown version from Rakuten as well:

I was talking to someone who is in Tokyo for a number of weeks and she said she checked a million Airbnbs… but found something that fit here needs (she can walk a bit). So, I’m sure we can find something!

      Thank you Josh!

I’ll check it out. I looked a little in the Rakuten site, probably have to expand the search to get more reasonable long-term pricing, I’ll keep looking.

Anyway, if anyone has additional information, please let me know. 🙂

Here is another place I found: https://www.tokyoapartments.jp/serviced-apartments/

In general, the contract length for an apartment is 2 years (sometimes 1 year), so you will likely need to look for a place on these type of “for foreigners” sites. Which of course will then mean contacting a lot of places….
