Can you call a wheelchair accessible van on the Go app in Tokyo and Kyoto? For example, on the Uber app in NYC, I’m able to specify a van with wheelchair ramp when ordering a taxi. Is this possible on the Go app in these two cities?

    It’s possible.

But it’s not perfect options because of wheelchair specifications and driver’s skills to set up ramp. Additionally taxies would be Japan Taxi, not Van type vehicle in most cases.

Yes, as @wilgo said, it is possible… and the skills may be not fully up to par with some drivers. You could also be sure to check the height of your wheelchair/yourself as, for example, I need to remove my headrest to fit in the door and I need to face sideways which means only one other passenger can ride with me.

You can generally get one to come in Tokyo, but in some parts of Kyoto you might get “no cars available”…

Hello. In Japan it is difficult to book such a taxi using the GO app. You have to find a taxi company like me. If you want, I can help you.

    Regards.

I am interested in hearing about this. I visited Chicago and the wheelchair accessible vans there are amazing, though there is some space for driver error.
