Hello everyone, I am a mother with a son with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.We want to travel from Tokyo-kanazawa-hiroshima and at least going to Okinawa in October with 2 mothers and our 2 sons (both in electric wheelchairs), but …
We have a LOT
of luggage with us, including our mobile lifting system to put our Sons on the toilet /bed .I wonder if we can rent this somewhere and have it delivered to our hotel?
We have a lot of medical equipment with us, including an additional mattress (alternating), can this perhaps also be rented?
Otherwise how long it will take to bring this luggage to our next hotel because it is really necessary and we cannot miss it until the next day.
There are still a lot of questions but let’s start with this one. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is possible to rent them.
Tokyo, Kanazawa, Hiroshima, and Okinawa… are all very far apart, so
in my opinion, the most practical way would be to rent a hoist and mattress for the number of days required for each city and have them delivered to each hotel.

Wheelchair travel can certainly help. I would add two points to the discussion. Firstly hotel to hotel luggage transfer is an available service. Yamato Transport (and possibly others) offer this. Depending on the timing of your itinerary you might want to consider having two sets of luggage so that one set is in the next location before you leave the current one. Secondly anywhere you are staying should be given the dimensions of any bulky equipment you will be bringing as well as photos of it. I am currently in Japan and although I told all the hotels that we are staying in that my daughter uses a wheelchair because I didn’t give the dimensions we had a problem with one hotel because although the room was big enough there was a narrow place between the door and the room and the wheelchair couldn’t pass.
