Hakone – 2 nights

Leaving Tokyo and heading to Kyoto.  We are going to stop in Hakone for 2 nights.  Is there a traditional style Ryokan we can get to and allows wheelchairs?  We don’t need an accessible bathroom.  We can manage for 2 nights.  Also, how do we get to Kyoto from Hakone?

Finding a really ‘traditional’ ryokan may be tough, depending on your definition. A quick google search brings up the following for a place to stay: http://www.pax-yoshino.com/

It looks like they have some barrier-free rooms.

As for how to get to Hakone from Kyoto, it looks like there’s a fair number of transfers involved. It really depends on what station you’re leaving from. If you give me some more information, I can try and help you out!

    Cheers.

    Hello

    (Thanks @bookman for your answer!)

Yes, Pax Hoshino is great, but often is fully booked – so act fast!

As for getting there, take the “Romance Car” on the Odakyu Line to go right to Hakone, but as @bookman says, there are other transfers once you get there if you are doing the standard route.  All are accessible, but there are a few steep places.

    @Bookman

I will check it out.  Yes we are taking the Romance from Tokyo to Hakone.  I know about the other transportations around Mt. Fuji  and the 2 day pass.  I just did not know how to get to Kyoto after the 2 days in Hakone?

It looks like you can head back to Odawara Station from Hakone-yumoto station, then take the shinkansen from there to Kyoto:

I did read the article.  It was great!  Any other Ryokans that can be recommended?

You could also try Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tenseien.

They have a “universal twin” room (2nd from the bottom): https://www.tenseien.co.jp/stay/guestroom.html

But not as nice as Pax Yoshino

Thank you for your question.I recommend riding the bullet train when going Kyoto from Hakone. You need to transfer to the bullet train(Hikari or Kodama) at Odawara.

And I recommend that traditional style Ryokan 「

    GORA KADAN」(https://www.gorakadan.com)or 「

Hakone Ginyu」(http://www.hakoneginyu.co.jp)or「TENSUI SARYO」(https://www.tensui-saryo.com)or「Hananoyado Fukuya」(http://www.hakone-fukuya.com)or「Gora Hanaougi」(https://gorahanaougi.com)because it is traditional Japanese culture to the full.I am hoping that it will be a good trip.
