Booking Wheelchair Seats on the Shinkansen
Booking Wheelchair Seats on the Shinkansen

I helped some people the other day that booked their tickets through Klook. Then they just scanned a QR code at the designated shinkansen ticket machines and printed them out. In general, I am not a fan of using third parties, and this was just for 2 people, but you might want to look into them. Normally, I would dig into this further, but I am leading a tour bus of 30 at the moment.
Thanks for the advice
I have tried the Smart-Ex and it it only seems to be able to do tickets for the route from Tokyo to Kyushu. Unfortunately I have found no way to buy any of the other train tickets I need in advance. JR don’t allow the sale of wheelchair seats by authorised agents outside of Japan. Are there any agents inside Japan who can arrange tickets for other Shinkansen and Limited Express trains? I don’t really have the flexibility to wait until I arrive in Japan to get tickets.
Hello Maury,
Yes, we are an authorized travel agency that can arrange wheelchair seats on Shinkansen and limited express trains.
If you have any requests, please feel free to send us a direct message.
Actually, my daughter also uses a wheelchair, but even for Japanese citizens, it takes a long time (2 to 3 hours at the longest) at the ticket counter to reserve a wheelchair seat on a route that has not been converted to app reservation. Since you are traveling to Japan, I feel that it would be nice if you could spend your time doing something more enjoyable instead of wasting it.
We hope this will be helpful to you.
Thank you for your reply, I was not sure what replies, if any I was going to get to my post. Most of the places I plan to visit on this trip I have been to already but it was with my wife who is not disabled. This trip is with my daughter who can walk a bit but has to use a wheelchair because of an injury to her spine.
I have the itinerary planned and hotel reservations confirmed. Ground travel is planned but not booked as this can only be done (according to the websites I have used in the past) one month in advance.
I can share the plans with you if you can let me know how to send them.
I have found your email address and will contact you directly. Thank you.
My pleasure! My husband and I also enjoy traveling all over Japan with our daughter who is a wheelchair user. We would be happy to help you and your family have a comfortable and enjoyable trip!
Yes, as you noted, most trains and Shinkansen in Japan are booked a month in advance. If you let us know your plans in advance, we can make arrangements smoothly.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!
Does anyone know how I can book to rent A mobility scooter or wheelchair once in Tokyo? I was given one place for rent but it is so expensive I am hoping I may be able to find one a little less expensive. I was thinking like the Disneyland in the states you can order these from any outside source. If anyone know please let me know
Do you need it just for in Disney? Disney Tokyo has wheelchairs you can rent on the premises.
