Assistance in Osaka

Hello, I’m looking for a last-minute scooter or power wheelchair rental in Osaka (for Saturday) as well as any possible suggestions for repair services. My wife’s scooter hit some curbs in Tokyo and the front wheel bearings have failed, causing the front wheel to wobble and make it unsafe. The hotel concierge has tried to find someone who can help with repairs in Tokyo but did not find a shop willing to assist since it’s not a Japanese brand. She is unable to walk so our options are limited. We are taking a train from Tokyo to Osaka Saturday afternoon. Are there any suggestions for rentals and/or repairs in Osaka? We are there Saturday and flying out on Tuesday. The bearings need to be rebuilt or a similar sized wheel could be installed. Thank-you!

    New Wheelchair Rental at Haneda

Some of you here are probably aware of this, but a new wheelchair rental service has started at Haneda Airport Terminal 3. They rent normal manual wheelchairs as well as a light-weight power wheelchairs that is foldable and self-standing.

You can get it at the airport, take it anywhere while you are traveling in Japan, and bring it back there.

It says it is a trial started late February till the end of March but I heard it will continue after April 1, 2025.

It does not have English site yet. You can write your request from here:

maybe via https://whill.inc/jp/ ? Site is in japanese. Through the map icon you can select Osaka and then click on the numbered locations. Also, check out this URL for an english guide:

Thank you for the link! Unfortunately WHILL requires 1 week notice for rentals. We haven’t yet found a rental company for same day or next day as of yet.

It will probably be very difficult to find a company that can repair it, because they are often closed on Saturdays and Sundays. You might be able to rent a power chair, but…

@will Will-san, I hope your problem has already been solved.

As 123eileens-san said, if you are coming back to Haneda Airport after staying Osaka, it would be a good idea to rent a wheelchair at Haneda Airport, as they offer a wheelchair rental service.

(If you are flying out from Kansai Airport, this service is not available)

We have been in touch with several wheelchair rental services this morning, but have not been able to find one that is available for same-day rental.

If a “manual” wheelchair would be OK, I have found one in Osaka.

Thank you very much for the suggestions! Although we did fly into HND and will fly out, the wheel broke mid-trip after accidentally hitting a high curb at an intersection in Tokyo so we didn’t know it would be needed until yesterday. The Hilton Canopy Osaka staff has found us a manual wheelchair to use during our visit which is great news. We’ll still be looking for opportunities to rent an electric wheelchair on short notice or a way to repair the wheel but at least we’ll be able to leave the hotel if other options fail.

    Hello everyone.

I contacted Will yesterday. As expected, it was difficult to rent the car the next day in Osaka. Moreover, it was on the weekend…

(My company owns a WHILL, but unfortunately it is currently being rented out to someone else) I’m sorry I couldn’t be of any help to Will and everyone else.

    Thank you

    Tak
