Anyone use Word Lens or other smart phone translators?

I’m probably going to bring my iPhone with me to Japan for my extended stay. I want to use a good camera translations app, maybe like Google Word Lens, mostly to ensure I don’t accidentally eat food from my intolerance list. Has anyone used it before? or recommend a different one? pros/cons? 🙂

    Thanks,

    -Justin

Just last week, I shared a cab ride from Anaheim Angels (baseball) stadium with a couple from Osaka. (Yes, they went to watch Shohei Ohtani play.) We used Google Translate only to have a good 20-minute conversation about their trip and Las Vegas recommendations. They were able to communicate with the cab driver by only using Google Translate.

I’m not sure if Google Translate can be used on iPhones, but you want to test it before your trip.

To translate written text? or do you mean spoken?

Both. It allows you to download Japanese onto your phone.

When you talk, it’ll translate it into Japanese and vice versa. When you want to translate text, you point your camera at the text and it will translate it.

Try it out on your own before you go to see if it’ll work for your needs.
