If you are looking for an accessible onsen with a view of the ocean, you may want to check out Shimoda Yamatokan in Shizuoka.

While the main bath is not accessible, room 304 has a special en-suite hotspring bath that can raise up and down. Just put the special wheelchair on the raised bath floor and pull a level to lower into the hot water!

Great place to visit, while so many onsens (hot spa) are located in Izu area!

Do you ever take clients down that far?

If you learn of other accessible onsen in the area, please share them here!

Wilgo took Japanese clients to Ito area along with care givers. They stayed at Chofukan managed by Saitama prefecture. Unfortunately, English pages are not available.

In Hakone and Atami area, accessible hot spa facilities are available. For example,

      Hakone Pax Yoshino

      Hotel Hatsuhana

      Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori

      Kamponoyado Atami

Although accessible rooms and hot spas are available in these facilities, no detail descriptions in English can’t be found. Apparently, number of accessible facilities in these areas is growing.

Wilgo will start collaborations with our colleagues to get more details information about accessible tours both in Japanese and English.

Thank you for those! We knew of Hakone Pax Yoshino (we reviewed it here), but not the others.

Please keep adding information as you find it!
