Accessible nature in Japan
Hi there! I’m traveling to Tokyo with my husband in July. I have some city activities planned, but we’re both avid outdoors folks and would love to experience some of Japan’s natural beauty as day trips from Tokyo. I’m a para and surf, mountain bike, road bike, and SCUBA. Any suggestions for places we should visit? Are there any opportunities to rent adaptive equipment, like an arm bike? I would love to take a long trail. Or any other suggestions? I’m always open to try something new? Thank you!!

I would strongly recommend getting in touch with and going to Togakushi in Nagano as the people at the “Universal Tourism Desk” have done a lot of work into importing outdoor use wheelchairs for enjoying nature.
If you are into scuba diving and don’t mind flying down to Amami Ojima, there is a place to do adapted scuba and other marine sports as well.

I would recommend the hakone area for beautiful nature.
Thank you! That area looks gorgeous! Are there any particular spots/gardens/shrines/museums you would recommend there? The open air museum looks exactly like something we would love!
