Electric Wheelchair or Mobility Scooter?
I spent 3 weeks in Japan from Mid November. Like you, I use a mobility scooter at home. In Japan, I saw none. Through our travel agent, I hired an electric wheelchair. I eventually managed to reverse out of a lift without hitting anything!
We had to get a spare battery for the wheelchair, as we regularly used up one.

I’m in the same situation as you and have been doing a lot of research. I’ve discovered that the best place to be is nearest to Tokyo train station. Which is what we are going to do. This is the main train station and you also get the Bullet Train here.

Hello,
in fact, wheelchair accessible rooms in Japan are called ‘universal’ or ‘barrier-free’.
I think it may be hard to find a big universal room, but maybe you can book a “normal” room next to your accessible room. Japan is really very sure and secure, and people are really gentle and helpful, this kind of solution may be OK I think.
