Door stoops
Door stoops
Posted by Lar on February 21, 2024 at 6:50 pmHow many folks have trouble getting into shops and restaurants because of high stoops? I’ve high centered my scooter many times?? 😖

All the time.
I don’t usually bottom out, but because it is so heavy it is even hard to pop a wheelie. I often tell people that a single step can be the same to me as a wall.
Sometimes, if I know it will be useful, I’ll take a small portable ramp. But even though it is portable, it isn’t always practical to carry it all the time…
I feel your pain with those high stoops! As @joshgrisdale said, even just a single step can be impossible to get over. It really limits where we can and can’t go. Maybe more places could have portable ramps available at least on request. Hope you find some workarounds but totally understandable how frustrating it is!
I’ve unfortunately had to resort to buying my own portable ramp that’ll go in my motability vehicle. If I go out without my car then I rely on the shop/restaurant to provide a ramp but sometimes it IS impossible to get in, extremely frustrating
