We keep a rolled up Velcro strap in my Husbands wheelchair bag and use it for either his feet or around his waist depending on bumpy terrain or steep terrain. Comes in very handy.

On a bumpy path, I tried tying my feet to the wheelchair with a belt – it actually helped more than I expected!
