The Batu Caves in Malaysia are not wheelchair accessible
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that the Batu Caves in Malaysia (near Kuala Lumpur) are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The only way inside the caves (and inner temple) is up a very long set of stairs.
However, it is still a great site to see as the giant Murugan statue is very impressive. The temple at the bootom is very colorful and there are some stores and a restaurant as well. The ground and curb cuts are a bit rough, but negotiable in a wheelchair.
It should be noted that the site is not in Kuala Lumpur, and the only way to get there would be by an accessible car. Ace Altair Travels (http://www.acealtairtravels.com/index3.asp) has a van with tie-downs.
So, be sure to visit, just know that those with movility issues cannot get inside the cave.
