Emotional DAS Pass issue has Disney World visitors divided
Jamie Santillo received a lot of support online after she was one of many who was denied a Disney DAS pass. But the travel agent, who specializes in accessible travel, says she’s also gotten a lot of hateful comments. “Things … Continue reading
1 CommentThere are a lot of ableist trolls online. They’re ignorant, mean, and nasty. I just remind myself that they’re jealous and probably have accomplished a lot less than I have. And, also, that my wheelchair weighs over 300 lbs. and could “accidentally” cause physical damage to their feet. (For this site, I’m holding back.)
If they were to troll me…

Disney Implements Overhaul Of Disability Access At Parks
Despite pushback, Disney is pressing ahead with major changes to its process for providing disability accommodations at its theme parks amid concerns about rampant abuse of the program.
Jamie from AdventuresByJamie (on instagram) posted an update about her experience today. It was not good. I recommend hearing it from her firsthand. However, SUPER disappointed in Disney. Really hope they open their eyes to how bad this is, and could be for people with serious health issues. Walt must be spinning in his grave!! 😡

(That’s how I get qualified for paratransit.) Just hope being very independent doesn’t hurt my chances. If it does, I’ll just have to accept it. I can’t let…
“The Disney parks, as with other Orlando attractions, have gone to great effort to make their sites more disability-friendly, with adaptations such as ramps and wheelchair entrances – helping the Florida city rank among the world’s most accessible by Valuable 500.
But what about invisible…

DAS Pass Discussion
Curious if anyone has talked to a Disney representative about this since the announcement of the changes?
I am surprised by the lack of communication from Disney despite the backlash of the announcement. I use the DAS pass for mostly dysautonomia issues, and despite the wording of the announcement not including this,…
I haven’t talked to or heard from anyone at Disney about these changes. I’m worried that I will no longer be eligible because I’m too independent even though I use a power wheelchair.
I’m going to Disneyland next month for Pride Nite, so I hope I’ll get a DAS.
