Nice to have a toilet to yourself, but having it so open makes it look like prison…
Carlos, Josh Grisdale and tabifolk3 CommentsI haven’t taken AMTRAK as far as they have, I have taken it from Los Angeles to San Diego and back. It’s guaranteed accessible, unlike GREYHOUND/FLIXBUS.
While the bus is less expensive than AMTRAK, AMTRAK does offer discounts for those with disabilities AND their companion. I would strongly suggest, before even planning your trip, creating an online profile on AMTRAK’s website (amtrak.com). There, you can indicate what assistance you need and the equipment you’ll be using. When you do book, make sure to indicate, under passenger type, which travelers in your party have a disability and which are the companion.I’ve never booked a room as this couple did. I just had a wheelchair space since the LA to SD trip is just three hours. I’m not sure about how far in advance you need to book even a simple space. I’ve never booked any last-minute travel ever.
