Inclusive outdoors: what is changing?
Discover why hiking is increasing popular for people with mobility disabilities: joelettes, all-terrain wheelchairs and more.
Josh Grisdale7 CommentsThanks for sharing! @allyhongo and others from the Japan Travel Awards are trying to get local organizations here to buy some Joelette chairs. I reached out to the company but was told to wait a few months before they could give me a price for importing to Japan … 😢
Hey, wait a second, there has to be another way to get them, they are not the only ones on the market. Or there is a chance to get them second hand perhaps. Send me a DM with how many you want and I can ask around!
They said they are in talks with a local (Japanese) supplier, so, hopefully they will become available sooner than later… but still, sending a rough estimate would have been nice. Weird way to handle a potential customer!
I should note we have something similar, but requires your own manual wheelchair. So, people like me in power wheelchairs or who don’t usually use wheelchairs would be out of luck.
Yes I saw that, you sent it to me some time ago I remember! Regarding the Joeletters, the thing is, I believe, they are probably full of requests from EU countries and they think it is super complicated to deal with extra-EU commerce, or they are understaffed and producing less after the pandemic. Either way, we need more joelette producers :). I think I saw a DIY tutorial somewhere
