DENIED ACCESS – Deck 11 – Water Slides, Sports, & Sun – Carnival Cruise Ship Spirit –
Mobility ScooterJosh Grisdale and schroth-sensei5 CommentsI can understand the lack of access to the water slides themselves because they go so high up, plus they probably want to avoid any safety problems and wouldn’t allow someone living with a major physical disability use them anyway (and most likely why it doesn’t need to be ADA compliant). However, the kid pool-playground area, mini-golf, basketball court, and track could potentially be enjoyed by those living with disabilities, or someone who is living with a disability that wants to spend time with their family in these areas. I have personally gone to a mini-golf course for a family members birthday, due to my disability I can’t really play, nevertheless I enjoyed the family time and watching them play. So, I don’t feel having at least some access to Deck 11 isn’t too unreasonable. It’s a shame too that you are already a captive audience on the ship during the cruise, limited to only the entertainment available to you on board, further limiting that when they didn’t have to is just disappointing.
Same here. Even if you don’t take part directly, just being in the same area lets you talk, laugh, make memories.
That is really too bad! Thank you for sharing this – it is important to see access and lack of access when making a decision about where you will visit.
I am glad you appreciated it. A lot of people went after me thinking I was doing a hatchet job on Carnival. My intent was just giving people a heads up about the area. I have been on other Carnival ships (Mardi Gras for example) and I had elevator access to the water slide and miniature golf areas where I could enjoy watching my grandkids play!
Knowing what you can and cannot do is essential to making an informed decision! Of course I want to know what I cannot do if I’m going to spend money on something! I’ll add a comment on YouTube as well. Sorry to hear you got those bad comments.
